Custom Skid Job for Bronze Sculpture

With most jobs we perform, we build wood crates for our customers. What people may not realize is that we also custom design almost every single crate request that comes through our doors. Custom designs are one of the ways we can offer greater protection of goods to our customers. Take this bronze sculpture for example.

Everything about this piece calls for extreme customization. And it was our pleasure to accept the challenge. Taking a picture, drawing, or even blueprints of objects and designing the crate needed is a project we look forward to day in and day out.

This sculpture was fascinating and deserved every last detail to ensure it's safe delivery. We thank our customers for the opportunity!

Palletize and Crating Steel House

Houses can be challenging to build in general. But what about a house made of steel? And the steel parts have to go from the U.S to New Zealand? Shown below is a house made strictly out of steel that we had the privilege to palletize, crate, and pack in to containers for one of our customers.

The pieces for this steel house were shipped to a remote location in New Zealand, and then assembled on location.

More assembling. The views this house will have are stunning!

This is THE definition of an ocean front property. It really doesn't get any better than this!

Crating Technology is here all of your pallet and crating needs. We serve all of Arizona and would be happy to provide a free estimate for your next project.

Lumber Prices Forecast

Outlook for lumber prices..... Looks like cost for crating lumber will be going up, good time to start planning.....

According to the Kiplinger Report (7/14), soft wood lumber had a strong bounce back earlier this year. Now holding steady. Prices had fallen as demand decreased from housing bust. Home building and new sawmills should balance out the supply and demand.

Kiplinger report also goes on to say that hardwood prices should gain due to overseas demands. Not to mention, as our American economy keeps improving, demand keeps rising for shipping crates, flooring, cabinets, and other hard wood home improvements. Kiplinger predicts some types of hardwood grades to rise 3-5% from 2014 lumber costs.

Ornate Carved Wood Bed

We had the absolute pleasure of crating up this majestic bed frame. It truly was a piece of art.

The owners were moving and wanted to be sure that this incredibly valuable piece of furniture was well taken care of and protected to the fullest degree. The pictures simply do not do it justice.

The intricate carvings were just amazing!

If you have items that you need crated, to add the extra protection, just let us know.

Swanson Springfield Plywood and Veneer Mill Fire

Tragedy struck in the form of a fire a couple of weeks back at the Swanson Springfield Plywood and Veneer Mill. According to www.Statesmanjournal.com, approximately 250 people are now out of work for what could be another year or two.

The following is from Statesman Journal,

"Company officials offered Springfield Plywood and Veneer workers several options as they move past the shock of watching their workplace burn to the ground.

Swanson said some jobs at its mills in Glendale and Roseburg are held by temporary workers, and those could be turned into regular positions for the Springfield workers. The company might also do a mini expansion at those mills. Those efforts might add up to 100 jobs."

You can see a video of the fire and more information here:
http://youtu.be/mZ214dFiUEk

How does this affect the lumber industry? Well, we are already seeing the effects in rising pricing. As stated by www.Kezi.com, there has already been quite the increase in plywood prices, jumping up to a rise of 10-12%. This impact was seen almost immediately, in large because this mill supplies 2% of North America. The main lumber they produce is sheathing and sanded plywood.

By, the good news is that prices are anticipated to return to normal in approximately 45-60 days (www.kezi.com).

We send positive thoughts to those that have been affected by this fire......

Shockwatch for Wood Crates

Shockwatch is a program we here at Crating Technology are proud to be a part of.

What is a Shockwatch label? It is a label that we can affix on to the outside of the custom wood crates or packaging. The labels have indicators affixed to them.
If the product experiences mishandling during transportation, the indicator vial will go off, notifying of the mishandling immediately.
It is another level of protection for your goods and a warning to handlers. The Shockwatch label comes in different levels of G-force indicators to meet your handling specifications.

Here are some examples of commercial wood crates we built, that contain the indicators.

And, don't forget about Tiltwatch labels. Tiltwatch is an indicator that tells you right away if the wood crate has been tilted further than acceptable levels during transportation. Again, It's another reminder for the contents inside of the wood crate to be checked immediately.

Any questions, just let us know.
