Custom Wood Skids

Sometimes, you have a tool or item that needs secured for transport, but a wood crate is just not the solution. We have the answer: custom wood skids.

This is an air vent/ duct system that needed to be secured for transport. But, a full crate was not the best option in this case.

So, we built a custom wood skid. Once it was completed, we added additional features to secure the piece for travel.

And off it goes! Headed to it's destination via a flatbed truck.

Call us for any of your custom wood skid needs. We offer free estimates and we cover the entire state of Arizona.

Leonardo's Horse

You may be familiar with Leonardo da Vinci's horse, or better yet, "the horse that never was". But for those who are not, here is a short summary:

Da Vinci was commissioned in 1482 to create what was to be the largest equine statue in the world. The Duke of Sforza was the financier of the project.

Da Vinci created the drawings as well as the 24 foot statue, which was to be cast in bronze. But war broke out and the bronze was needed for the Dukes army. And, the enemy soldiers used the clay statue as target practice, basically destroying it. Leonardo never did to complete the project.

Fast forward a few hundred years. The original drawing were rediscovered. And since then, many artists around the world have created their versions of the majestic statue.

Recently, we had the honor to heat shrink wrap and prep one of these equines for transport.

With sculptures, transportation can involve high risk. Extra stabilizing measures are used to ensure safe delivery.

Devoted artists pour their time and talent into their creations. We are here to protect them.

Shockwatch and Tiltwatch Distributor

For most of our customers, tools to indicate any possible mishandling or impact to their equipment is of extremely high importance. This is one reason we are a distributor for ShockWatch.

As a standard, we offer our customers ShockWatch and TiltWatch labels. They can be affixed to the outside of our crates. They can also go inside if needed. If the crate/ product experiences more shock or tilt impact than it can generally handle, the indicator is triggered. Serialized labels are also a standard we keep on hand. It helps to deter any tampering of the labels.

The vial on the label changes color. This does not necessary mean the contents of the crate are damaged. It is just an indicator prompting for the contents of the crate to be checked immediately for possible damage.

Beyond labels we keep in stock, we can also order aditional Shockwatch products such as:

MAG 2000

As a distributor for Shockwatch, we can also offer our customers the MAG 2000.  It is cost-effective, resettable and reusable.

The MAG 2000 is made up of two tuned very sensitive magnets. As soon as an out-of-tolerance impact is experienced, the magnets are forced out of alignment. This indicates the angle and severity of the impact. It can only be reset with a unique key. A measure to prevent tampering.

ShockLog 208

When using a ShockWatch ShockLog 208 indicator, impacts and environmental conditions experienced by your equipment get monitored and recorded. This feature is applicable whether your equipment is in use, in transit, or in storage.
An alert activates to notify the owner of the device that damage may have occurred. This promotes immediate inspection of the equipment.
This is best for equipment that only requires recording on basic acceleration values.

ShockLog 248

The ShockLog 248 carries out the same  duties as the 208. But, it additionally measures and records up to 15 impact events. It also has an optional environmental sensor which can provide expanded product protection.

ShockLog 298

The ShockLog 298 monitoring device offers a more advanced, programmable impact and environmental recorder technology. It is a superior form of protection during use, storage or transit.

Just let us know if you have any ShockWatch or TiltWatch needs.

Shockwatch for Wood Crates

Shockwatch is a program we here at Crating Technology are proud to be a part of.

What is a Shockwatch label? It is a label that we can affix on to the outside of the custom wood crates or packaging. The labels have indicators affixed to them.
If the product experiences mishandling during transportation, the indicator vial will go off, notifying of the mishandling immediately.
It is another level of protection for your goods and a warning to handlers. The Shockwatch label comes in different levels of G-force indicators to meet your handling specifications.

Here are some examples of commercial wood crates we built, that contain the indicators.

And, don't forget about Tiltwatch labels. Tiltwatch is an indicator that tells you right away if the wood crate has been tilted further than acceptable levels during transportation. Again, It's another reminder for the contents inside of the wood crate to be checked immediately.

Any questions, just let us know.
